What is Devanahalli Famous For

Devanahalli is famous for three things above all: Kempegowda International Airport, the KIADB Hi-Tech, Defence and Aerospace Park, and the fort where Tipu Sultan was born. It is a small town of 28,051 people at the 2011 census, about 40 km north-east of Bengaluru, yet it carries one of the largest concentrations of new investment in Karnataka.

Famous for the Birthplace of Tipu Sultan

Devanahalli Fort was built in 1501 by Malla Baire Gowda, and Hyder Ali later rebuilt it in stone. His son Tipu Sultan, remembered as the Tiger of Mysore, was born here, which gives the town a place in Indian history far larger than its size suggests.

The fort fell in 1791 during the Third Anglo-Mysore War under Lord Cornwallis. It still stands across about 20 acres with 12 bastions, and the Venugopala Swamy Temple inside it, built in the Dravidian style, is the oldest temple within the walls.

Famous for Kempegowda International Airport

The airport opened on 24 May 2008 and remade the town's economy within a decade. It turned a farming taluk into the front door of the city, and everything from hotels to aerospace manufacturing followed the runway.

From Prestige Parklane in KIADB Aerospace Park Phase 2, the airport is 20 km away, a drive of about 25 to 30 minutes. The Namma Metro Blue Line will eventually serve the same corridor, with Doddajala station under construction and the airport section targeted for March 2028.

Famous for Aerospace, Defence and Electronics

The KIADB Hi-Tech, Defence and Aerospace Park is the reason engineers know the name. Boeing has invested ₹1,600 crore in its largest site outside the United States, and Foxconn has committed ₹21,911 crore to manufacturing in the belt.

Collins Aerospace, Safran, HAL, Dynamatic Technologies, Centum Electronics and Wistron sit in or beside the park, alongside Shell's technology centre 17.4 km from the project. Few Indian towns carry this mix of aviation, defence and electronics in one place.

Famous for What Is Being Built Next

  • A World Trade Center is under construction on 74 acres, with opening planned for 2027.
  • The BCCI Centre of Excellence is coming up on 45 acres, with 45 cricket pitches.
  • Amazon is relocating its headquarters to the belt, and Walmart has leased space here.
  • The Satellite Town Ring Road now links the corridor east to Hoskote and west to Doddaballapur.

Famous for Nandi Hills and the Country Around It

Nandi Hills lies about 19.9 km from Devanahalli town and is the best-known weekend destination in this part of Karnataka. From Prestige Parklane the hills are roughly 35 km away, which makes an early morning drive entirely practical.

Closer to home, Devanahalli Fort is about 9 km from the project and Bettakote Lake about 13 km, while Ghati Subramanya Temple is around 30 km away. Together they give the corridor a weekend character that most industrial belts lack.

Famous Now as a Property Corridor

The last of Devanahalli's reputations is the newest. Housing followed the airport and the aerospace park, and the belt now carries branded projects alongside the plots and farmhouses that came before them.

Prestige Parklane is one example, occupying Plot No. 24 inside the aerospace park itself. It holds 1,788 homes across nine towers on a 32.26-acre master plan, priced from ₹56 lakh to ₹1.92 crore, with possession declared for 31 December 2030.
